We recommend trying to visit from end of March until June to discover the beauty of The Algarve without the swarms of tourists everywhere.

Marijuana possession for personal use is not a criminal offence in Portugal.

The Legal Status of Cannabis in Portugal

In 2001, Portugal became the first country in the world to decriminalize the possession and use of all drugs, including cannabis. The Portuguese drug law allows a person to possess up to 25 grams of cannabis which is considered a 10 day supply, But if you're caught with larger quantities of marijuana or are involved in its sale or distribution, you may face criminal charges and even jail time.
